PUBLIC SAFETY: OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY

Councilmember Paul Krekorian is committed to maintaining a high level of public safety for the City of Los Angeles and for the residents of the Second District. His commitment is born of a history of fighting for safer streets and communities

in Sacramento and in L.A.

During his service in the California State Assembly, Paul worked closely with law enforcement and prosecutors to enable the eviction of dangerous, gun wielding gang members and pushed for slower speeds on some of our busiest thoroughfares.

Since his election to  the Los Angeles City Council, he has met with Los Angeles Police leadership and Senior Lead Officers throughout the Valley Division to learn first hand the issues officers are  confronted with on a daily basis.

When rains and landslides threatened the northern San Fernando Valley in early 2010, Paul worked closely with the Los Angeles Fire Department to ensure that adequate resources were deployed to protect the community. He and his staff have met with Neighborhood Council public safety representatives to learn of their concerns.

Paul is a firm believer that as the city ushers in a new era of economic viability, public safety should not be compromised to save a few dollars. He has made very clear the high priority he places on essential public safety services such as the retention of adequate Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance service in the district and maintaining open communication with public safety officers throughout CD2.
