Posted on 10/13/2023

(LOS ANGELES) October 13, 2023 - Council President Paul Krekorian and five other Councilmembers will accompany Mayor Karen Bass to Washington D.C. next week, where they will advocate for the City in meetings with the executive and legislative branches of the federal government.

Council President Krekorian, Assistant President Pro Tem Bob Blumenfield, and Councilmembers Eunisses Hernandez, Heather Hutt, Traci Park, and Hugo Soto-Martinez will meet with the members of California’s congressional delegation and the Biden administration to press for additional resources to meet the City’s needs.

Councilmembers will meet with Cabinet secretaries, Presidential advisers, both of California’s U.S. Senators, and members of the House of Representatives to make the case for Los Angeles, and secure more funding for the City’s priorities.

To accommodate the Councilmembers’ participation in this historic delegation, there will be no meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, October 17 or Wednesday, October 18.  All Council Committees scheduled to meet on either of these days should meet as scheduled, provided there are enough members present to meet quorum.  The Council will resume meeting as scheduled on Friday, October 20.
